In September Jack & Georgia rented a vacation house on the Jersey Shore and invited their whole gang to join them for a week of relaxation. Yea!

On the first day Jack took the seven grand kids out seashell hunting and fell on some boulders. Paramedics pulled him out and took him to the ER. The prognosis - a broken humorous bone and a dislocated shoulder. He was treated and released.

Two days after returning home he left to participate in the Pennsylvania - Delaware District Fall Missions Tour. While the Holy Spirit moved in all of the services, each day his pain grew worse.

When he returned home in December he learned that the docs did not check his rotary cup. As a result of three months of traveling the damage escalated. He was operated on December 9, and placed in a restrictive arm immobilizer (see photo).

Currently Jack is undergoing physical therapy, and catching up on a lot of overdue correspondence and reporting.

The Global Food Project provides an almost unheard of opportunity to serve hungry and hurting people overseas!

Jack & Georgia receive their support from personal friends and local churches. They cover all of their own travel costs. When invited to preach in churches they do not accept 'love offerings' or missionary offerings.

100% of their offerings are used for the purchase of rice and beans for overseas distribution, without a dime or a penny withheld for administrative purposes. Convoy of Hope pays to transport the food to the warehouse, to the port, and to the nations where it is needed.

In the heart of Convoy of Hope the celebrities are the poor we honor in our distributions, outreaches and projects.

I encourage you to read Isaiah 58 again - and again! God speaks - "Day after day they seek me out; they seem eager to know my ways, as if they were a nation that does what is right and has not forsaken the commands of its God." Then the Almighty goes on and says, "Yet on the day of your fasting,you do as you please and exploit all your workers."

In verses 6 - 10 God redefines what He sees as a proper fast. He explains what is lacking when prayers are not answered.

Oh, dear friends - let us give heed to the heart of our Lord!

"One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed." Proverbs 11:24-25

When Disaster Strikes ...

In this photo (left) Peruvians hard-hit by the August earthquake clamor for help. Many of them have lost everything they owned in a matter of minutes! The photo on the right shows all that remains of an Assembies of God church building.

August has not been good to many parts of our world! Here on the home front Convoy of Hope’s Domestic Disaster Team is shipping help to the Midwest – hard-hit by flood waters from Minnesota to Ohio.

Overseas, the International Team is responding to cries for help from Peru (earthquake), India, Nepal and Bangladesh (Typhoons). The Global Food Project has responded with an open-hand (Deut. 15:7-8), but these disasters, along with our normal ministries around the world, have left our resources depleted.

As the Lord directs and enables you, please send what you can to help us help the hungry and hurting souls overseas!

A Quarter (or Two!) For Your Thoughts

The first two quarters of 2007 have been fabulous! Convoy of Hope's Global Food Project is a partnership joining the efforts of dedicated world missionaries, hard working national church volunteers, generous supporters like you, and the indispensable empowering of the Holy Spirit.

Often the winter months are lean for many ministries, but God graciously opened doors for Jack to share his vision for hungry and hurting people in 14 churches and the Spanish Districts' Fly-In. Many were saved in the services, and the generous offerings enabled the Global Food Project to purchase tons of rice and beans for distribution around the world.

In the photo above Convoy of Hope missionary Berry Brown is seen distributing GFP rice and beans to needy folks in Ghana, Africa. Jack is working to host a team to Ghana later this year, and there is still room for you to join us! Give Jack a call at 501-609-0554 for details.

The Bolivian Jacbelin

During our recent visit to Bolivia a special treat was meeting Jacbelin (seen here with Georgia & Jack) for the first time since we had the honor of dedicating her fourteen years ago! She is the ‘miracle child,’ according to her father Daniel Vaca. The Vacas had been a barren couple when Dani’s wife attended one of our home miracle meetings. Daniel was not there, but for the first time his wife attended. I had no idea who she was, but as I prayed for her the Spirit strongly impressed on my heart to tell her she was about to become pregnant!

Now, even for me that is a heavy message to pass along. After all, I had no idea who she was, or even if she was married. Likewise, I know how emotional bareness can be on a couple. Nevertheless, the impulse was so strong that I could not help but share it with her- to her absolute joy and delight. Sure enough, nine months later she conceived a daughter, and called her Jabelin!

Invite A Hungry Person to Dinner!

We believe God delights in blessing His people, and that He wants us to enjoy His gifts.

At the same time, He encourages us to be generous to the poor and needy, and to share our abundance with those who have nothing.

Being from the 'old school,' we regard going out to dinner as a luxury. When we visit our favorite restaurant we have decided to invite a poor person to dine with us. We take the average price of the meal / person dining, and donate that amount to the Global Food Project. 100% of funds donated to the GFP are used for the purchase of food for starving people overseas.
